Michaelitica

Our charitable organization, in accordance with its constitution, wishes to give everyone the opportunity of getting to know the parish and the history of the St. Michaelis Church as well as supporting the care, maintenance and fittings of the church building.
The exhibition in the vault has been seen by over 400.000 visitors since it was first opened in 1986. From the proceeds of the exhibition and the sale of printed matter, the organization has been able to raise around 300.000 DM up to now for projects which couldn’t have been financed from parish funds.
Amongst other things, the money raised has partly or totally financed the restoration of the north vault to its original condition, the replacement of the tooled leather cover on the „Beedegestühl“, the purchase of a new lectern and the repair of the glass window in the hall of the tower.
In addition, the old clockwork mechanism in the tower, a monument to the mechanical craftsmanship existing at the turn of the century has been preserved from decay and set in motion as an object to behold.
